Create design onlineAbout Jaguar™ Scarlet Shades Gerbera
Jaguar™ Scarlet Shades is a red-toned Gerbera jamesonii selection in the Jaguar™ F1 line. The Jaguar series is grown as a potted gerbera, with upright plants and a mid-spring-to-summer flowering window in production ([Syngenta Jaguar Mix](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70000972); [NC State Extension Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gerbera-jamesonii/)).
## Light and soil
Give gerberas bright light, with protection from hot afternoon sun. They prefer rich, well-drained soil kept evenly moist; standing water can cause root rot. Use this compact flowering plant in containers, beds or borders ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gerbera-jamesonii/); [Clemson HGIC](https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/gerbera-daisy/)).
## Seasonal display
The Jaguar line is sold for potted-plant production, and its flowering schedule reflects nursery growing conditions. In a garden, Gerbera jamesonii usually flowers most in spring and fall, though it can bloom at other times. Treat it as a tender perennial in warm climates and as a seasonal annual where winter cold prevents outdoor survival ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gerbera-jamesonii/)).
## Maintenance
Remove faded flower stems at the base to encourage a neat display. Keep the crown at soil level, water at the soil rather than over the foliage, and maintain good drainage.
