Revolution™ Bright Red is a red-flowered selection of Gerbera jamesonii. The standard Revolution collection is grown for pot sales and uses coordinated flowering windows across its color range; nursery crop timing does not mean an outdoor plant will flower year-round ([PanAmerican Seed Revolution brochure](https://www.panamseed.com/documents/catalogs/14212-Gerbera-Brochure.pdf); [NC State Extension Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gerbera-jamesonii/)).
## Growing conditions
Plant in rich, well-drained soil and keep the root zone evenly moist without leaving the crown soggy. Full sun suits the species, while light afternoon shade helps in hot locations. Gerbera jamesonii is an herbaceous perennial in warm regions but is widely grown as an annual in colder climates; most outdoor flowers appear in spring and fall, with additional flowering possible at other times ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gerbera-jamesonii/); [Clemson HGIC](https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/gerbera-daisy/)).
## Seasonal use
Use this bright red selection in a container, border or seasonal bedding display. Potted plants can be moved to a cool, bright, frost-free place for winter, with enough moisture to keep the soil from drying completely ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gerbera-jamesonii/)).
## Maintenance
Deadhead spent flowers at the base to keep the plant tidy and encourage continued display. Avoid soggy soil and water at soil level to reduce crown and root rot risk.
