About Spider Gerbera Daisy

Gerbera is a clump-forming genus of perennial daisies with bold flower heads held above low foliage. Most gerberas are tender and are grown as houseplants or summer bedding, while a few bred hardy forms can remain outdoors in mild, sheltered sites. ## Season and placement Gerberas flower through summer and work well in containers, front-of-border displays, and cut-flower plantings. Most grow about 1–2 feet tall. Give them a warm, sunny position and fertile, well-drained soil or potting mix; leave space for air movement around the foliage. The [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/gerbera/growing-guide) covers their seasonal display, size, and garden uses. ## Water and winter care Water as needed while plants are actively growing, keeping the compost moist but well drained. Set the crown slightly above the soil and avoid leaving pots in standing water, which can lead to rot. Tender types need winter protection; bring them under cover before temperatures approach 41°F. Remove fading flower stems at the base to keep the plant tidy. See the [RHS guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/gerbera/growing-guide) for detailed care. ## Maintenance Deadhead faded stems at their base and remove damaged leaves to keep the crown open.
