About TEMPO™ Coral Avens

TEMPO™ Coral avens forms a compact clump of green foliage topped by abundant coral-red flowers. The short, sturdy stems keep the display close to the foliage, and the breeder reports another flush in summer. ## Landscape Use Use it at the front of a sunny border, along an edge, or in repeated groups for a low spring color band. The tight habit also gives neighboring plants room to show, while the clean leaves keep the mound presentable after the first flowering. ## Growing Conditions Terra Nova recommends full sun and lists moist, loamy soil with average garden water. Its size listing gives about 7 inches of foliage, a 10-inch spread, and flowering stems near 12 inches. Provide steady moisture during establishment and choose soil that drains rather than remaining saturated. ## Seasonal Interest Coral-red flowers open from April through June, with summer rebloom extending the color season. The green foliage stays attractive through summer, so the plant remains useful after the main spring flush. Terra Nova lists pollinators among its special uses. ## Maintenance Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more bloom, then cut old stems back after flowering. Divide established clumps every few years to maintain vigor, and clear winter-worn stems as new growth begins.
