TEMPO™ Rose Avens

TEMPO™ Rose avens is a compact, mounding Geum selected for semi-double rose-red flowers that fade toward light pink. The dark stems hold the flowers above dense green foliage, creating a clear spring focal point without the loose, sprawling look of older geums. ## Landscape Use Use it near the front of a sunny border, along an edge, or in repeated groups through a mixed bed. Its short foliage mound and taller flower stems provide two useful layers of height; the breeder lists an 8-inch foliage height, 12-inch spread, and 21-inch flowering height. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun with moist, loamy soil and average garden water. Terra Nova lists USDA zones 4–9. Keep moisture even during establishment, and use a site that drains well rather than sitting wet through winter. ## Seasonal Interest The main flush arrives in spring, then repeats intermittently through summer and fall according to the cultivar’s patent description. Rose-red flowers gradually soften to light pink, while the dense green foliage remains a useful low border texture between blooms.
