Golden Colonnade® is a deciduous ginkgo selected for a narrow, upright outline and bright yellow fall color. Its cultivar code is ‘JFS-UGA2’; the name Golden Colonnade is the trade name used by its introducer, J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co.
## Form and Use
A strong central leader and narrow oval crown make this selection useful where a broad shade tree would take too much room, including larger street tree sites. Allow for a mature height near 45 feet and spread near 25 feet. The foliage is medium green through the growing season before turning bright yellow in fall. The introducer describes the original tree as male and observed to be seedless.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun with room for the crown to develop. Ginkgo tolerates a range of urban conditions, but a moist, well-drained site supports establishment. Confirm the mature spread against nearby pavement, utilities, and overhead clearance before planting.
## Maintenance
Water regularly while the root system establishes, then adjust irrigation to local rainfall and soil drainage. Ginkgo is generally low maintenance; prune selectively in spring to remove damaged or crossing branches and preserve its natural leader. Sources: [J.
