Create design onlineAbout Presidential Gold® Ginkgo Tree
Presidential Gold® is the trade name for Ginkgo biloba 'The President', a seedless male selection with a strong central leader and a dense, broadly pyramidal crown. The breeder lists it at about 50 ft tall and 40 ft wide in USDA zone 4, with green fan-shaped leaves that turn bright yellow in autumn. [J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co.](https://jfschmidt.com/all-trees/introductions/presidential-gold-ginkgo/) documents the cultivar identity, mature dimensions, and seedless character.
## Form and seasonal interest
Young trees develop full branching and a strong central leader; the mature crown becomes dense and upright, broadening toward an oval outline. The medium-green leaves create summer shade and turn gold before dropping in fall. Its seedless male selection avoids the fleshy, foul-smelling seeds associated with female Ginkgo trees.
## Siting and care
Choose a sunny location with overhead and lateral room for a large shade or specimen tree. The breeder describes the cultivar as adaptable to a wide range of soils and growing conditions. Keep the planting area clear of structures and utilities as the crown expands.
## Maintenance
Water regularly during establishment, then monitor moisture during prolonged dry weather. Preserve the central leader when young; remove damaged or competing branches with clean cuts when needed.
