‘Glacier’ is an evergreen English ivy selected for small grey-green leaves with irregular silver-grey and cream markings. It can climb a wall or trellis and also cover the ground; the Royal Horticultural Society lists a mature height of 1.5–2.5 m and spread of 0.5–1 m. ([RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/45202/hedera-helix-glacier-v/details), [NParks](https://www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/1/4/1408))
## Landscape Use
Use it for a variegated evergreen accent on a support, as a groundcover, or in a container or hanging basket. Its pale leaf markings contrast with darker foliage. Choose a support that can carry mature growth and keep the plant away from trees or surfaces where it would be difficult to manage.
## Growing Conditions
‘Glacier’ grows in full sun or partial shade. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand, with moist but well-drained or well-drained conditions. NParks also records it for full shade and indoor use, so it can suit sheltered positions where the soil drains freely.
## Foliage and Form
Leaves are shallowly lobed, grey-green, and edged with irregular cream or silver markings. The RHS describes the cultivar as a climbing wall shrub; NParks also records a creeping habit and a maximum of about 2 m tall and wide. The RHS hardiness rating is H5, a UK scale and not a USDA-zone value.
## Maintenance
Trim stems to keep the plant within its allotted space and remove any growth entering nearby beds. Prune at any time as needed. Wear gloves when handling ivy because it may irritate skin.
