Create design onlineAbout Hardy Verbena
‘Shauna Ann’ is a compact, low-spreading garden verbena with fragrant lavender-pink flowers and finely divided green foliage. The plant patent identifies it as an interspecific Verbena hybrid with uncertain parentage, so sources also use Glandularia canadensis as a horticultural name. Its low habit and long flowering period fit the front of a sunny border.
## Garden Use and Size
The patent reports a height of 12–15 cm and a spread of 38–45 cm. Missouri Botanical Garden describes plants around 6–10 inches tall and notes uses in mass plantings, edging, containers, and as ground cover. The flowers appear from May or June until frost, depending on conditions, so the plant can carry color through much of the warm season.
## Site and Seasonal Interest
Grow in a sunny site with well-drained soil. The cultivar was selected for hardiness and is documented for USDA Zone 4; flowering may be lighter in cool or shaded positions. Its lavender-pink blooms and aromatic flowers are distinctive selection traits. See the [PP11926 plant patent](https://www.hort.net/pedia/patent/grant/11926/) and [Missouri Botanical Garden Plant Finder](https://plantfinder.mobot.org/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?bt=9&taxonid=259265) for cultivar-specific description and uses.
## Maintenance
Water during establishment and during prolonged dry spells. Remove spent stems if a tidier edge is desired, and trim lightly after the main flush to encourage fresh growth. Avoid persistently wet soil, which can contribute to root problems. Leave enough room for the plant to spread without overtaking neighboring low perennials.
