Create design onlineAbout Streetkeeper Honeylocust
Street Keeper® honeylocust is a narrowly pyramidal, urban-tolerant selection with ascending branches and a fine-textured, dark green canopy. It is useful where a tall deciduous tree must fit a constrained street or property edge, with yellow foliage adding a fall accent.
## Landscape Use
The breeder, [J. Frank Schmidt & Son](https://jfschmidt.com/all-trees/trees/street-keeper-honeylocust/), identifies the selection as ‘Draves’ and lists a mature height of 45 feet and spread of 20 feet. Its tight upright outline gives the tree a much narrower profile than many honeylocusts, so allow room for the mature height while preserving nearby sightlines and overhead clearance.
## Seasonal Interest
Leaves remain deep green through the growing season, then turn yellow in fall. Fine-textured foliage and strongly ascending branches give the tree a formal vertical shape even when it stands alone. [J. Frank Schmidt’s data sheet](https://jfschmidt.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/streetkeeperhoneylocust.pdf) records USDA Zone 4b and describes the cultivar for city streets.
## Maintenance
Choose a site with enough vertical clearance for a large tree and enough lateral room for its approximately 20-foot canopy. Keep the narrow crown in view as nearby paths, buildings, and utilities mature around it; the breeder’s published profile emphasizes its naturally upright branch structure.
