Create design onlineAbout Golden Shadows® Pagoda Dogwood
Golden Shadows® is a variegated selection of pagoda dogwood with golden-yellow leaf margins and a distinctly tiered branch structure. Orange-red new growth, spring flowers, summer fruit, and autumn foliage give this small tree several seasons of interest.
## Foliage and Form
The exact selection is Cornus alternifolia 'Wstackman', US plant patent 11,287. Proven Winners lists a mature height and width of 10–12 feet; the current catalog dimensions of 3.5 m are consistent with that upper range. The RHS describes white spring flowers, blue summer fruit, and autumn color. ## Siting
Grow in partial shade and moist, well-drained soil; acidic to neutral soil is suitable. Give the tiered branches room to spread and use the variegated foliage as a focal point in a woodland border or small garden. [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/244280/cornus-alternifolia-wstackman/details)
## Maintenance
Keep soil evenly moist, particularly in hot or dry periods, and mulch the root zone. Prune lightly to remove damaged or crossing branches while preserving the cultivar's layered structure.
