Create design onlineAbout QIS Carmine Gomphrena
QIS Carmine gomphrena is an upright, sun-loving annual with striking carmine flower heads on long stems. PanAmerican Seed lists this exact selection in the QIS cut-flower series, with late-spring and summer bloom, a 24–26 inch height, and an 8–10 inch spread ([QIS Carmine product information](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/029801222001003/gomphrena-qis-carmine/)).
## In the garden
Use it in sunny borders or the middle of a cutting bed, where its vivid color can carry through warm weather. The breeder recommends the QIS series for both garden planting and professional cut-flower production. It is an annual, so plan to replant for another season rather than expect it to return as a hardy perennial.
## For cutting
Cut stems when the flowers are colored and the heads are rounded, before they elongate. QIS stems suit fresh arrangements and drying; the series guidance reports a long vase life and recommends harvesting dried flowers while the heads are still young ([QIS growing guide](https://easyseeds.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Gomphrena-tall-Qis-series.pdf)).
## Maintenance
Give plants full sun and ordinary, even watering. The QIS growing guide recommends fertile soil and avoiding overhead irrigation during flowering. Harvesting stems regularly keeps this selection useful for bouquets as well as garden color.
