Create design onlineAbout QIS Orange Gomphrena
QIS Orange gomphrena is an upright annual valued for bright orange, globe-shaped flower heads on long stems. PanAmerican Seed lists this exact selection for sun, late-spring and summer bloom, a 24–26 inch height, and an 8–10 inch spread; it is suited to both garden use and professional cut-flower production ([QIS Orange product information](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/029801222003789/gomphrena-qis-orange/)).
## In the garden
Place it in a sunny border or cutting bed where the orange heads can punctuate late-season plantings. The QIS series is grown for long, uniform stems and is used for fresh and dried arrangements. Treat it as an annual and sow or plant again for color in a future season.
## For cutting
Cut stems when the flowers are in color and the heads are rounded, before they stretch. PanAmerican Seed recommends the QIS range for fresh or dried use, and the series guide gives practical harvest timing for both purposes ([QIS growing guide](https://easyseeds.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Gomphrena-tall-Qis-series.pdf)). Johnny’s Selected Seeds also describes QIS Orange as a cut-flower selection and lists 18–28 inches for plant height ([QIS Orange seed listing](https://www.johnnyseeds.com/flowers/gomphrena-globe-amaranth/qis-orange-gomphrena-seed-1944.11.html)).
## Maintenance
Grow in sun with fertile soil and ordinary watering. Avoid overhead irrigation during flowering when possible, and harvest stems regularly for arrangements.
