About Graceful Grasses® Prince Tut Dwarf Egyptian Papyrus

Graceful Grasses® Prince Tut™ is a compact, upright Egyptian papyrus with sturdy stems and rounded heads of green foliage and spikelets. It typically grows 18–30 inches tall and spreads 24–36 inches, giving a smaller setting an umbrella-like accent without the scale of King Tut® ([Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/p/10745); [Kew Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/330934-2)). ## Placement Use Prince Tut in a large container, along a pond edge, or in a moist landscape bed. It works as a focal thriller in a container and can also be grouped for a repeated effect. The supplier lists spring, summer and fall flower seasons, recommends part sun to sun, and gives a hardiness range of USDA zones 10–11. ## Growing Conditions The supplier rates water needs as average but recommends consistent moisture for landscape planting. Keep the root mass moist; for water-feature use, place the plant shallowly and keep the crown above the water. Its sturdy shorter stems are less likely to flop than those of larger papyrus, though a container still needs room for the 24–36-inch spread. ## Maintenance Prince Tut is described as an annual and is not hardy through freezing winters. In cold-winter areas, enjoy it outdoors in the warm season and do not expect it to return after frost. It grows quickly, so check container moisture during hot weather and leave room for its clump. The supplier says deadheading is unnecessary; remove old or damaged stems when they detract from the display.
