Create design onlineAbout Guatemala Papaya Coneflower
Guatemala Papaya is a compact hybrid coneflower with fiery orange daisy flowers and dark central cones. Its long summer-to-fall bloom brings color to sunny borders, containers, and pollinator plantings, and the flowers also suit cutting. [Emerisa Gardens' Guatemala Papaya listing](https://emerisa.com/plant/echpap4-h-35/echinacea-hybrid-guatemala-papaya) identifies it as a Guatemala-series Echinacea selection.
## Size and placement
Plan for a mound about 8–10 inches tall and wide. Give it full sun and average, well-drained soil; the seller lists USDA zones 4–9. Use it near the front of a sunny perennial bed or in a container where its orange flowers can be seen at close range.
## Growing notes
The cultivar is deciduous and blooms from summer into fall. The nursery reports moderate water needs and drought tolerance, along with attraction for bees, birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Leave space for air movement and avoid persistently wet soil, especially in winter.
## Maintenance
Water regularly through the first growing season, then check the soil before irrigating. Remove spent flower stems if you want to keep the display tidy and encourage additional flowering. Allow the dried central cones to remain where their winter structure is useful. [Emerisa Gardens](https://emerisa.com/plant/echpap4-h-35/echinacea-hybrid-guatemala-papaya)
