About Pink Fairy Baby's Breath

Pink Fairy is a compact, mounding selection of panicle baby's breath with airy pink-and-white flowers above narrow gray-green foliage. Red Butte Garden lists this cultivar at about 18 inches tall and wide, hardy in USDA zones 3–8, and in flower from May through July. ## Garden placement Use the rounded clump at the front or middle of a sunny border, in a rock garden, or in a small cutting bed. The fine branching and light flower clusters pair well with grasses and broad-leaved perennials, while the stems can be cut for fresh or dried arrangements. ## Growing conditions Choose a sunny site with well-drained soil. The species prefers neutral to alkaline conditions and can develop a deep taproot, so settle the plant where it can remain rather than moving an established clump. Red Butte Garden reports average water needs for this cultivar. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers or trim stems after the main flush when a cleaner outline or renewed flowering is desired. Water during establishment, then avoid waterlogged soil. Keep nearby plants from crowding the airy stems if you want the flowering mound to remain visible.
