Heart to Heart® ‘Chinook’ is a caladium with salmon-pink leaves edged in green and deep pink veining. It brings warm-season foliage color to sunny or shaded beds, borders, and container plantings.
## Size and placement
Proven Winners’ [2026 gardener guide](https://c2.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/catalogs_pdfs/pw_springguide_2026_single.pdf) lists Chinook at 15–20 inches tall and 8–10 inches wide, supporting the catalog’s existing labels. The [Proven Winners Direct page](https://provenwinnersdirect.com/collections/perennial-plants/products/heart-to-heart-chinook-sun-or-shade-caladium) describes salmon-pink, orange, and green foliage and recommends sun or shade, borders, containers, and hanging baskets.
## Growing conditions
Grow in warm conditions with moist but well-drained soil. Caladiums grow from tubers and are usually seasonal outside warmer climates; the [Proven Winners care guide](https://www.provenwinners.com/learn/container-gardening/vibrant-versatile-heart-heart-caladiums) advises waiting until air and soil are warm before planting and avoiding waterlogged soil. Light influences leaf color, so monitor the foliage in strong sun.
## Maintenance
Water during active growth to prevent the soil from drying, while allowing excess water to drain. In cool regions, lift and store tubers or bring containers indoors before chilling temperatures. Caladiums are irritants if eaten, so site them away from pets and children. The current width source differs: Proven Winners’ 2026 guide says 8–10 inches, while its Direct page says 10–14 inches; the existing 8–10 inch catalog value is retained pending review.
