Heart to Heart® Hot 2 Trot™ is a warm-season caladium grown for broad, deep-red leaves edged in green. Its compact, mounding display works in containers, hanging baskets, borders and mass plantings, and this selection is listed for both sunny and shady sites.
## Cultivar and size
The [Proven Winners cultivar profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/caladium/heart-heart-hot-2-trot-sun-and-shade-caladium-caladium-hortulanum) identifies ‘Hot 2 Trot’ and lists a mature height of 15–20 inches and spread of 10–14 inches. The same source describes the foliage as deep red with a green border and the habit as mounding. The matching plant patent names ‘RUF 1522-3’ and records grant and publication on November 2, 2021.
## Siting
Use full sun through shade according to local light intensity; in hotter regions, protect leaves from intense afternoon exposure. Caladiums prefer warmth and evenly moist soil, but should not sit in cold, soggy conditions. Grow outdoors as a seasonal accent outside its listed zones 10–11, or keep it in a bright, warm indoor location.
## Maintenance
Keep soil consistently moist during active growth and avoid cold, waterlogged conditions. The breeder recommends warm temperatures above 65°F and light, regular feeding during the growing season. Leaves and tubers may irritate if ingested. In frost-prone climates, lift and store tubers before freezing weather; University of Florida IFAS describes drying and storing dormant tubers in a dry medium.
