Create design onlineAbout Heart to Heart® Mesmerized™ Caladium
Heart to Heart® Mesmerized™ is a fancy red caladium with contrasting green, chartreuse and orange-red foliage. Its upright leaves make a bold container focal point or a colorful addition to borders and grouped plantings; the breeder lists it for sun or shade.
## Cultivar and size
The [Proven Winners profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/caladium/heart-heart-mesmerized-sun-or-shade-caladium-caladium-hortulanum) identifies ‘Mesmerized’ and gives a mature height of 15–20 inches and spread of 10–14 inches. It describes the plant as grown for foliage and notes its contrasting green, chartreuse and orange-red tones. The matching plant patent is for ‘Mesmerized’; the grant and publication date is July 24, 2018.
## Siting
Use the stated sun-or-shade range in light of local climate and exposure. Caladiums prefer warmth, humidity and evenly moist soil, not cold, waterlogged conditions. The profile lists USDA zones 10–11, so grow it as a seasonal accent in colder regions or protect its tubers for winter.
## Maintenance
Maintain even moisture during active growth while allowing excess water to drain. Keep it warm; the breeder recommends temperatures above 65°F and light, regular feeding. Caladiums may irritate if eaten. Before frost in colder climates, lift tubers and store them dry for spring replanting; UF/IFAS provides dormant-tuber storage guidance.
