Create design onlineAbout Heart to Heart® Splash of Wine™ Caladium
Heart to Heart® ‘Splash of Wine’ is a fancy-leaf caladium with white to pink foliage, green main veins, and cranberry-red spots. Classic Caladiums recommends it for shady areas and notes that new leaves can show stronger pink tones in bright conditions. Its compact mounding habit makes it useful in containers and warm-season borders.
## Garden use and appearance
The rounded leaves create a bright patterned mass, with red-purple spotting over a pale background. Plant it where the pink and green markings can be seen against darker foliage, or use it as a container focal plant. The named cultivar is covered by U.S. Plant Patent 31,599.
## Growing conditions
Choose shade to partial shade and warm, well-drained soil. Caladiums prefer consistent moisture while in active growth, but their tubers should not remain in cold, waterlogged soil. In a cooler climate, a container provides more control over warmth and drainage.

## Maintenance
Maintain even moisture during warm growing weather and let excess water drain freely. Protect from cold; lift and store tubers before frost if grown outside its year-round warm range.
