Double Trouble is an upright, clump-forming Helenium with ruffled double yellow petals around a golden center. Its patent describes a moderately vigorous plant about 75 cm tall and 46 cm wide; the Royal Horticultural Society describes plants to about 80 cm, and flowering references place its display from midsummer into early fall. ## Garden Use
Plant in a sunny border or cutting garden, where strong stems hold the double flowers above the foliage. The long flowering season and clear yellow color make it useful in late-season groupings.
## Growing Conditions
Give it full sun and fertile, moisture-retentive soil that drains freely. Keep the root zone from drying during summer heat. Divide established clumps every few years if flowering or vigor declines.
## Maintenance
Deadhead faded flowers to prolong bloom. Tall stems may need support in exposed or windy sites; cut old stems back after flowering or in early spring.
