About Mariachi™ 'Salsa' Sneezeweed

Mariachi™ ‘Salsa’ is a compact Helenium autumnale with red to dark orange ray flowers surrounding a yellow-brown or dark brown center. The Royal Horticultural Society describes free flowering from late summer through autumn; a perennial profile lists an 18–20 inch height, 20–23 inch spread, full sun, and USDA zones 3–9. Its red-orange flowers add warm color late in the season, and the compact clump works well in groups or at the middle of a mixed perennial bed. ## Growing Conditions Choose full sun and fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Keep moisture even through summer, especially during establishment, while avoiding persistently waterlogged conditions. Allow enough space for the clump to widen. ## Maintenance Deadhead spent flowers to extend the display. Remove old stems after flowering or in early spring, and divide the clump in spring or autumn if needed.
