About Mariachi™ 'Siesta' Red Sneezeweed

Mariachi™ ‘Siesta’ is a compact sneezeweed with ruffled red petals around a dark brown cone. Its branched clump flowers from midsummer into early autumn and brings late-season color to sunny borders and cutting gardens. ## Landscape Use Use ‘Siesta’ near the front or middle of a sunny perennial border, or plant several together for a continuous late-summer display. Sturdy stems and flowers suit cutting, and bees and other pollinators visit the blooms. Published size estimates range from about 18 inches to just under 2 feet tall, with a similar compact spread. ## Growing Conditions Give the plant full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It tolerates clay, loam, sand, and chalk where drainage is adequate. Water during dry spells while it is growing and flowering. Perennial references list USDA zones 3–9; winter performance depends on local conditions. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers to prolong the display. Divide established clumps every two or three years to maintain vigor, and cut back old stems while dormant in late fall or winter.
