About Ben More Sun Rose

Ben More is a compact, low-spreading evergreen sun rose with glossy green leaves and orange, saucer-shaped flowers in spring and summer. A Utah water-conservation garden records a mature size near 12 inches tall by 2 feet wide, a useful scale for rock gardens and low groundcover planting. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand among suitable soil types and recommends a neutral to alkaline pH. Give new plants water as they establish, then avoid keeping the crown wet in winter. ## Landscape Use Plant Ben More where a low evergreen mat can soften a rock edge or fill the front of a sunny border. Orange flowers contrast well with gray or silver foliage and with blue-flowering companions. ## Maintenance After the main flush of flowering, lightly trim the plant to keep it compact and encourage fresh growth. Remove only damaged or straggly tips, and maintain open drainage around the crown.
