About Cheviot Sun Rose

Cheviot is a compact, spreading evergreen sun rose with gray-green foliage and pale peach to salmon-pink flowers with yellow eyes. Its flowers open from late spring into summer above a low mat, making it useful for sunny rock gardens, gravel beds, banks, and path edges. ([RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/65729/helianthemum-cheviot/details), [Perennials.com](https://www.perennials.com/plants/helianthemum-cheviot.html)) ## Growing Conditions Grow Cheviot in full sun and well-drained soil. It tolerates sandy or relatively poor ground, but drainage matters most in winter. Published size descriptions vary slightly; the RHS describes a plant around 20 cm high, while nursery measurements commonly place it near 45 cm wide. ## Landscape Use Use this low evergreen mound as edging, groundcover, or a front-of-border accent where its pale flowers can brighten gravel or stone. Its modest height lets it spill over a low wall without obscuring neighboring plants. ## Maintenance Trim lightly after flowering to keep the mound dense and tidy. Remove only a portion of new growth at a time, and avoid cutting hard into old wood. Water during establishment, then reduce irrigation once rooted.
