About Dazzler Sun Rose

Dazzler is a low evergreen sun rose with narrow green leaves and vivid magenta-red flowers, each with a yellow eye. The flowers begin in late spring and may continue into late summer; the compact mat is listed at about 8–12 inches tall and 18–23 inches wide. ([Perennials.com](https://www.perennials.com/plants/helianthemum-dazzler.html), [UC Master Gardener Program](https://www.ucanr.edu/site/uc-master-gardener-program-sonoma-county/helianthemum-sunrose)) ## Growing Conditions Plant Dazzler in full sun and sharply drained soil. It tolerates sandy, poor soil and dry conditions once established, but water new plants until roots are established. Keep winter drainage especially free-flowing to protect the crown. ## Landscape Use The spreading foliage and bright flowers suit a sunny rock garden, gravel bed, low border, or path edge. Leave room for the plant to spread and combine it with other low-water perennials whose foliage will remain attractive after each short-lived flower fades. ## Maintenance Shear lightly after flowering to keep the mat neat and encourage fresh growth or a later flush. Avoid hard pruning into older woody stems, and remove only damaged or straggly growth.
