About Wisley Pink Sun Rose

Wisley Pink is a compact, evergreen sun rose grown for rose-pink flowers with golden centers and neat grey-green foliage. It spreads into a low mound that can soften the edge of a path or gravel bed. The RHS trial list records ‘Wisley Pink’ as a synonym of ‘Rhodanthe Carneum’; the cultivar is consistently spelled Wisley, rather than Wisely, in the horticultural references. ## Site and planting Choose a sunny position with free-draining soil. This rock rose works at the front of a border, in a rock or alpine garden, or where its spreading stems can edge a wall or path. The RHS trial guidance recommends full sun and well-drained soil for Helianthemum; a nursery profile describes this selection as mat-forming and evergreen. The compact grey-green leaves remain as a soft groundcover between flowering periods. ## Maintenance Water through the first growing season while the roots establish. Thereafter, avoid waterlogged soil and give occasional water in a long dry spell. A light trim after flowering helps keep the mound tidy; do not cut deeply into old woody growth.
