Create design onlineAbout SOL SEEKER™ Golden Nectar Helianthus annuus
SOL SEEKER™ Golden Nectar is an upright, branching annual sunflower with bright yellow petals shaded orange near a dark chocolate center. Its recurring flowers add warm-season color to sunny borders, cutting beds, and large containers.
## Garden use
Danziger lists this selection at about 36 inches tall and 40 inches wide, while other profiles publish smaller mature spreads; leave room for the plant’s branching habit. The flowers are suitable for cutting, and the nectar-rich blooms attract bees and butterflies, according to [Emerisa Gardens](https://www.emerisa.com/plant/helgon1/helianthus-annuus-sol-seeker-golden-nectar). The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/529226/helianthus-sol-seeker-golden-nectar-sol-seeker-series/details) describes yellow petals with orange bases and dark centers.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering; light part shade is also listed for this cultivar. Use ordinary garden soil that drains well, and water moderately during active growth. Danziger identifies the Sol Seeker series as a compact, upright [Helianthus hybrid](https://www.danzigeronline.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Helianthus-Sol-Seeker-2026.pdf), while the current trade name remains Golden Nectar.
## Maintenance
This is an annual, so sow or plant after frost and remove the stems when the display finishes. Trim spent flowers when you want a tidier look; leave a few late heads if you would like seed for birds.
