About Silver Licorice Plant

Silver is a silver-leaved selection of *Helichrysum petiolare* with a vigorous, trailing to spreading habit. Its felted foliage makes a soft cascade for hanging baskets and containers, and it can also cover open ground where its growth has room to run. Supplier growing notes give a typical height of 15 cm and a trailing spread of 60 cm. Its silver color is the main ornamental feature; the small flowers are not the reason this selection is grown. Danziger describes the species selection as evergreen and fast growing, with cascading foliage. [Danziger](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/annuals/silver-leaf/) ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun or part sun in a free-draining mix. Kernock lists the selection as drought tolerant and cautions against persistently wet roots, especially in winter. Water newly planted specimens until established, then let the medium drain between watering. ## Maintenance Trim back stems when they extend beyond the intended edge or begin to cover neighboring plants. Protect this half-hardy selection from severe frost or grow it as a seasonal container plant in colder climates. [Kernock growing notes](https://www.kernock.co.uk/acatalog/info_U357.html)
