Winter Jewels® ‘Cotton Candy’ is a clump-forming hellebore with nodding double flowers in glowing, fluffy light pink. Its evergreen leaves and winter-to-spring flowering bring color to a shaded border while many perennials are still dormant.
## Flowers and foliage
The wide, ruffled tepals give this selection a soft, full appearance above leathery palmate leaves. The breeder describes the blooms as double and light pink, while the current grower lists the foliage as evergreen. The plant is sold at about 1 foot tall and 2 feet wide, a compact scale for the front of a border or a seasonal planter. ## Siting
Give it partial or dappled shade, with some gentle sun, and soil that stays evenly moist but drains freely. Avoid a spot that remains waterlogged. It can be planted in a sheltered border or used in an outdoor pot where the winter flowers can be seen; allow about 2 feet for the clump. ## Maintenance
Water new plants through their first growing season and water established clumps during prolonged hot, dry weather. In late winter, remove tired old leaves as new flower stems emerge so the blooms are easier to see. Keep the crown at its original planting depth and leave space around the clump for air and drainage. [RHS hellebore growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/hellebore/growing-guide)
