About Red Daylily Midseason

‘Bama Bound’ bears fragrant, ruffled dark-red flowers marked by a narrow golden band and a lime-green throat. The cultivar reaches about 24 inches in flower and spreads roughly 18–24 inches, with midseason to midsummer flowering and semi-evergreen foliage. ## Placement and seasonal interest Use it in a sunny perennial border or repeat it in a small group for a strong midsummer color accent. The flowers open in succession, and a later flush may follow under favorable conditions. Its compact clump fits beside paths and among other summer perennials. ## Growing conditions Provide full sun or light shade and average, moist but well-drained soil. Water thoroughly during dry weather, especially while buds are forming; standing water can harm the roots. [Gardenia’s cultivar profile](https://www.gardenia.net/plant/hemerocallis-bama-bound-daylily) gives additional selection-specific details, while the [RHS daylily guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/hemerocallis) describes general cultivation. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers and seed pods for a neater display. Cut the flower stalk down after its buds are spent, then clear dead foliage as it declines. Divide a crowded clump in early spring or early autumn.
