About Dark Red Daylily Early Fall Long Blooming

Hemerocallis ‘Berrylicious’ forms a clump of semi-evergreen, strap-shaped leaves with summer scapes about 24 inches tall. Its 5.5-inch flowers are red to dark red, edged and eyed in black above a yellow throat; the American Daylily Society records early-midseason bloom and rebloom, while the RHS profile lists summer flowering ([American Daylily Society](https://daylilies.org/cultivar/berrylicious/), [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/317522/hemerocallis-berrylicious-daylily-berrylicious/details)). ## Garden use The dark flower pattern stands out against green foliage and lighter perennials in a sunny border. Allow space for a mature spread of roughly 0.3–1.6 feet and use the plant as a compact middle layer; flowering may return later when growing conditions support rebloom. ## Growing conditions Grow in full sun for the strongest flowering, with partial shade acceptable in warmer sites. Plant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand as suitable soil types. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers and seedpods for a tidy clump. Cut flower stems back after blooming and remove dead foliage as it appears. Divide established clumps in spring or autumn when they become crowded.
