About Bright Sunset Daylily

Hemerocallis 'Bright Sunset' is a fragrant, dormant daylily with burnt copper-orange flowers, golden midribs, a warm orange band, and a green throat. The ruffled flowers open in midsummer, and the scapes reach about 36 inches; a published mature spread is 18–24 inches. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMBRS) [Breck's](https://www.brecks.com/products/bright-sunset-daylily) ## Garden use Use this cultivar in a sunny or partly shaded border, a mass planting, or a roomy container where its warm flower color and scent can be enjoyed. Individual flowers are short-lived, but successive buds extend the display; the flowers remain open for at least 16 hours. ## Growing conditions Grow in well-drained garden soil and water during dry spells, especially after planting. Walters Gardens lists full sun to part shade and USDA zones 3–9. Its 36-inch stalks rise above grass-like green foliage, so allow space for the 18–24-inch spread. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers and old flower stems after bloom to keep the clump tidy. Allow the foliage to complete its seasonal cycle before removing dormant leaves.
