About Candy Apple Daylily

Hemerocallis 'Candy Apple' is a dormant, diploid daylily hybridized by Wild in 1982. Its pink-to-coral flowers bloom in the midseason, and published mature height is 24–36 inches; flower color can read warmer or cooler in different garden light. [Dave's Garden](https://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/print/12077) ## Garden use Use the rounded clump in a sunny border or mixed perennial bed, with room for foliage and flower scapes to fill out. Daylilies work well beside paths and in repeated groups, where successive buds can be enjoyed up close. This cultivar is described as non-fragrant, so choose it for flower color and perennial form rather than scent. ## Growing conditions Provide full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Dave's Garden lists USDA zones 3–9 and spacing of 18–24 inches. Water new plantings as they establish; established daylilies generally need less frequent watering when weather is mild. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers and spent scapes as needed. Divide an overgrown clump when crowded or flowering less freely, and remove dormant foliage after it has declined.
