Create design onlineAbout Daring Deception Daylily
Daring Deception is a reblooming daylily with pale lavender-pink flowers, a dark purple eye and edge, and a green throat. Its flower stems rise above a clump of semi-evergreen, arching leaves, giving a border a clear color accent in early to midsummer.
## Flowers and size
The [American Daylily Society record](https://daylilies.org/cultivar/daring-deception/) lists 5-inch flowers on 24-inch scapes and confirms rebloom; [Costa Farms](https://costafarms.com/blogs/plant-varieties/daylily-daring-deception) describes 24-inch height and spread and zones 3–9. These exact-cultivar details correct the older catalog color description, which understated the purple eye and edge.
## Siting
Plant in full sun for best flowering; part shade is useful in hotter gardens. Daylilies prefer moist but well-drained soil and should not sit in waterlogged ground, as outlined in the [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/hemerocallis).
## Maintenance
Water new plantings during dry spells. Remove spent flowers for a tidy display, then cut a flower stem back after its buds finish; divide crowded clumps in spring or early autumn.
