Hemerocallis 'Fragrant Returns' is a compact, repeat-blooming daylily with lemon-yellow flowers and a sweet fragrance. Its arching leaves form a clump, while successive blooms extend the display beyond the first flush.
## Site and growing
Plant in full sun to partial shade in ordinary, well-drained garden soil. SiteOne lists an 18–24-inch height, a 24–30-inch spread, and USDA Zones 3–9; Kiefer Nursery describes scapes around 18 inches tall and a spread near 18 inches. These published size ranges differ, so allow room for a mature clump. See the [SiteOne plant specifications](https://www.siteone.com/en/79924b-hemerocallis-x-fragrant-returns-daylily/p/823307) and [Kiefer Nursery profile](https://kiefernursery.com/product/hemerocallis-fragrant-returns/).
## Seasonal interest
The lightly ruffled lemon-yellow flowers are fragrant. Kiefer Nursery describes a June bloom with repeat flowers continuing toward frost, while SiteOne lists early- and midsummer bloom. Daylilies open one flower at a time, so buds on a scape extend the overall show.
## Maintenance
Water deeply during dry spells, especially while the plant establishes. Remove spent blooms and scapes when flowering is finished. Divide an overcrowded clump to restore vigor; [Walters Gardens’ daylily guide](https://www.waltersgardens.com/article.php?ID=240) explains planting and watering basics.
