Create design onlineAbout Mini Stella Daylily
Hemerocallis ‘Mini Stella’ is a compact daylily with small, fragrant yellow flowers and a green throat, produced repeatedly through the warm season. Sources describe plants roughly 8–10 inches tall with a spread near 18–24 inches, making this cultivar useful where a lower, grassy clump is wanted. [Heritage Perennials](https://www.perennials.com/plants/hemerocallis-mini-stella.html) and [Greenleaf Nursery](https://www.greenleafnursery.com/plant/MINI-STELLA-DAYLILY) document the named selection and its miniature flowers.
## Garden Use
Place Mini Stella along a sunny path, at the front of a perennial border, in an edging, or in a container where its smaller stature is easy to appreciate. It flowers best in full sun, though partial shade is tolerated. The narrow leaves form a dense, arching clump that provides a neat green base between bloom cycles.
## Growing Conditions
Grow it in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It tolerates clay and a range of soil reactions; add water in spring and early summer if dry weather threatens flowering. Heritage Perennials lists USDA Zones 2–9 and a long early-to-late season flowering period for this selection. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/90405/hemerocallis-mini-stella/details) also describes its sun, soil, flowers, and clumping habit.
## Maintenance
Trim flower stems after their blooms finish and remove dead foliage as needed. Divide the clump in early spring or early autumn if it becomes crowded; frequent division is not usually necessary.
