Hemerocallis 'Orange Velvet' produces large, 6.5-inch orange flowers with a green throat in midseason. The American Daylily Society records rebloom, a 30-inch scape height and semi-evergreen foliage for this named selection.
## Landscape Use
The flower stems rise above a low mound of green leaves, making the plant useful in sunny perennial borders and grouped plantings. Its orange flowers bring a clear warm accent, while the green throat ties them visually to the foliage.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun or partial shade in ordinary garden soil that drains well, and water during extended dry periods while the clump establishes. The [American Daylily Society cultivar record](https://daylilies.org/cultivar/orange-velvet/) documents the selection's flower color, size, midseason bloom, rebloom and foliage type. The current [American Daylily & Perennials listing](https://www.americandaylily.com/product/orange-velvet/) lists zones 4–9 and a 30-inch height.
## Maintenance
Remove spent flowers for a tidy look, then cut the scapes back when their buds are finished. Leave healthy semi-evergreen leaves in place through mild weather and remove dead or damaged foliage as needed. Divide crowded clumps to maintain vigor and create additional plants.
