About Pardon Me Daylily

Hemerocallis ‘Pardon Me’ is a compact, fragrant daylily with cranberry-red flowers and a yellow-green throat. It blooms in midseason and can rebloom, bringing color from summer into early fall. ## Flowers and placement This selection grows as a dense clump of grassy leaves, with upright flower stems. [Perennials.com](https://www.perennials.com/plants/hemerocallis-pardon-me.html) lists a mature height of 16–18 inches and spread of 23–29 inches; [Bailey Nurseries](https://shop.baileynurseries.com/Product/Detail/1987) reports 18 inches tall and a 14–24-inch spread. Use it toward the front or middle of a sunny border, in a mass planting, or in a large container. Its repeated flowers also work well as cut stems. ## Growing conditions Choose full sun or partial shade and average garden soil that drains well. Daylilies tolerate a range of soil textures; keep young plants watered during dry spells and give established clumps moisture through active growth for better foliage and flowering. Allow room for the clump to widen. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers for a tidy display, then cut the flower stalk down after its buds are finished. Divide established clumps every few years in spring or fall if flowering declines or the planting becomes crowded. The [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/hemerocallis/growing-guide) gives general daylily planting, watering, and division advice.
