About Prairie Wildfire Daylily

Hemerocallis 'Prairie Wildfire' produces rich red flowers with a yellow throat above arching green foliage. The fragrant, five-inch flowers appear in midsummer; the cultivar's recorded 23-inch scapes and 18–24-inch spread make it a compact choice for sunny borders and repeated groups. ## Garden Use The [American Daylily Society registry](https://daylilies.org/cultivar/prairie-wildfire/) records this selection as a red self with yellow throat and a 23-inch scape. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMPRW) describes fragrant red flowers with a yellow throat and many midsummer blooms. Its arching leaves provide a green clump before and after flowering. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun or light shade. Daylilies tolerate a range of soils, but a well-drained site with regular water while establishing supports healthy growth and bloom. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower stems to keep the planting tidy. Water during long dry periods, and divide the clump in spring or fall if it becomes crowded.
