About Red Hot Returns Daylily

Red Hot Returns is a reblooming daylily in the Happy Ever Appster™ series, selected for its bright cherry-red flowers and exceptionally long display. Each flower has a yellow-green throat, and several sturdy scapes can rise from a fan as the season progresses. ## Flowers and garden use The original cultivar description records a nearly continuous display that can run from late spring or early summer into October in Zone 7; flowering timing shifts with climate. Retail profiles list plants about 23–28 inches tall and 18–24 inches wide, with hardiness in Zones 4–9. Use it where the repeated red flowers can brighten a sunny border or a mixed perennial bed. See the [patent description](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP13499P2/en) and [Bluestone profile](https://www.bluestoneperennials.com/HERH.html). ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering, though light afternoon shade can suit hot sites. A moist, well-drained bed supports steady growth; established plants can handle dry spells, but deep watering helps them flower well. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/198942/hemerocallis-red-hot-returns/details) also lists clay, loam, sand, and chalk soils. ## Maintenance Remove finished flowers and cut back spent scapes for a tidy planting. Water deeply during prolonged dry weather, especially while plants establish. Divide crowded clumps every few years if flowering or vigor declines; the cultivar is readily propagated by division.
