Create design onlineAbout San Ignacio Daylily
San Ignacio is a fragrant, dormant tetraploid daylily with large, baby-pink flowers, deeply ruffled petals, and a lemon-yellow throat. A [Proven Winners cultivar listing](https://www.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/images/press-room/hemerocallis-part2.pdf) records reblooming and strong, branched scapes; a daylily grower’s [listing for this named selection](https://www.ogdenstationdaylilies.com/pb/wp_9e2a5486/wp_9e2a5486.html) gives 28-inch scapes and 5-inch flowers. The early-midseason blooms rise above strap-shaped foliage.
## Garden Use
Use San Ignacio in a sunny border or mixed perennial bed, leaving about 2–3 feet for its mature spread. The large ruffled flowers bring a soft focal point among purple, blue, or fine-textured plants; individual blooms last a day, with successive buds extending the season.
## Growing Conditions
Grow in full sun or light afternoon shade in a site with good drainage. Water a new planting regularly until established; once established, daylilies tolerate short dry periods but bloom best with moderate soil moisture. Daylilies adapt to a range of soils, as summarized in the [University of Illinois Extension guide](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/daylily).
## Maintenance
Remove faded blooms for tidiness and cut back each scape when its buds finish. In early spring, remove dead foliage. Divide the clump only when crowding or reduced flowering makes it useful.
