Serene Madonna is a near-white daylily with a soft, muted flower color and a greenish-yellow throat. Its large, fragrant flowers bring a light focal point to a summer border, while the cultivar’s recorded height varies by source from about 26 to 35 inches ([AllgäuStauden](https://www.allgaeustauden.de/Stauden/Stauden-von-A-Z/Hemerocallis-Taglilie/Hemerocallis-Hybride-Serene-Madonna-Grossbluetige-Taglilie::10871.html); [Seize the Daylilies](https://seizethedaylilies.com/products/serene-madonna-childs-f-1972)).
## Garden use and siting
The six-inch flowers open in July and August. Plant in full sun or light shade in fresh, moderately moist soil. The grower lists it for open beds and the edge of woody plantings, with about 24 inches between plants. It was introduced by Childs in 1972; a local European nursery reports 90 cm total height, while a daylily specialist lists a 26-inch scape.
## Seasonal display
The flowers are not pure white: their subdued tone and greenish throat make them quieter than bright-white cultivars. Their size and pale color suit a mixed perennial border or a small group near a path.
## Maintenance
Remove fading stalks after the flowers finish. Divide congested daylily clumps in spring or fall, generally every three to four years ([Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMSCF)).
