About Siloam Nugget Daylily

Siloam Nugget is an older daylily selection with rounded, cupped flowers in a bright golden-orange tone. Its approximately 20-inch flower stalks keep the display close to the foliage, giving the plant a compact presence in a perennial border ([Greenbrier Nurseries](https://greenbriernurseries.com/descriptions-of-nursery-stock/)). ## Garden use and siting Plant Siloam Nugget in a sunny site with room for its grassy foliage to form a clump. The cupped blooms have a tulip-like outline that distinguishes them from flatter daylily flowers. Greenbrier Nurseries lists the cultivar at 20 inches tall and reports it as hardy in Zone 4; local conditions affect growth and flowering. ## Seasonal display Use the golden flowers to brighten a border edge or repeat the color in a small group. Daylily blooms last one day, but multiple buds on each flower stalk open in succession, extending the seasonal display. ## Maintenance Remove spent stalks after flowering and clear dead foliage as it declines. Divide crowded daylily clumps in spring or fall, generally every three to four years ([Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMSCF)).
