‘Stella de Oro’ is a compact, fragrant daylily with rounded golden flowers and arching green leaves. It blooms early in the season and sends out waves of rebloom into early fall, with individual flowers opening for a day ([American Daylily Society](https://daylilies.org/cultivar/stella-de-oro/); [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMSDO)).
## Size and garden use
This selection forms a low clump, with a typical height around 12–15 inches and a spread around 18–24 inches. Use it along a path or bed edge, in a container, or in repeated groups; the compact foliage and recurring gold flowers suit both home gardens and larger plantings ([Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMSDO); [Oakes Daylilies](https://oakesdaylilies.com/collections/all/products/stella-de-oro-daylily)).
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun for best flowering; light shade is tolerated. Moist, well-drained soil is a good starting point, and regular water helps new plants establish. Once established, the cultivar tolerates a range of ordinary garden conditions.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flowers and finished scapes for appearance, and divide crowded clumps every three to four years in spring or fall. Cut away dead foliage as needed ([Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMSDO); [Gertens](https://www.gertens.com/stella-d-oro-daylily)).
