About Sweet Tart Daylily

‘Sweet Tart’ is a dormant, diploid daylily with soft peach flowers, a greenish-yellow throat, and rounded petals edged in deep ruffles. Its 26-inch scapes carry five-inch blooms in midseason to late summer, bringing a bright accent to sunny borders and mixed perennial beds. ## Flowers and season The broad petals open flat and show a fine diamond-like sheen in sunlight. Individual flowers last for a day, while buds open in succession for a longer display. The cultivar listing describes ‘Sweet Tart’ as a vigorous, durable selection with later bloom that can extend summer color. [Blooming Designs](https://www.bloomindesigns.com/Hemerocallis-sweet-tart-25-plants/?abproductid=2352912) records its height, bloom size, form, and season. ## Siting and soil Give it full sun in cooler regions, with some afternoon shade where summers are hot. Plant the crown just below soil level in fertile, well-drained soil, and leave roughly two feet for the clump to fill. Water consistently while it establishes and during dry spells; daylilies perform best with even moisture. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers as they fade and cut the scapes after the last buds open. Clear old foliage at the end of the growing season. Divide a crowded clump in spring or fall, replanting divisions promptly and watering them well.
