Create design onlineAbout Heuchera 'Changeling'
Heuchera 'Changeling' is a compact, color-shifting coral bell selected for rose-peach new leaves that mature through gold and taupe to green, often under a silver veil. It forms a tidy mound with airy flowers on slender stems. [Terra Nova’s cultivar profile lists zones 4–9, a 9-inch foliage height, 14-inch spread and 16-inch flower height](https://www.floraldaily.com/article/9613134/terra-nova-nurseries-showcases-color-changing-sedum-and-heuchera-varieties/).
## Planting and Seasonal Display
Use the low mound to brighten a border edge or a mixed container, pairing its changing foliage with steady green leaves and finer textures. Flower stems rise above the foliage in late spring, with the breeder’s 2024 report describing May–June bloom. Penn State’s 2025 trial rated the selection highly in both sun and shade.
## Growing Conditions
Provide well-drained, organic soil and partial shade where summers are hot. It can grow in sun with moisture and good drainage, as shown in the Penn State ground trials. Let the surface begin to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly; avoid leaving the crown in soggy soil. [Terra Nova’s 2023–24 supplement](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/other/catalogs/Terra_Nova_2023_2024_Supplement.pdf) and [Penn State’s 2025 trial results](https://agsci.psu.edu/flower-trials/Trial-Year/2025/Plant-Name/Heuchera-Changeling) document this named selection.
## Maintenance
Remove damaged leaves and spent flower stalks as needed. Keep mulch lightly spread around, rather than over, the crown, and divide only if the clump becomes crowded.
