About Dark Secret™ Coral Bells

Dark Secret™ coral bells make a compact mound of deeply ruffled, dark purple to near-black foliage. Pink buds open to small white flowers on slender stems in summer, providing a light contrast above the leaves ([Concept Plants cultivar profile](https://www.conceptplants.com/varieties/heuchera-dark-secret), [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/285924/heuchera-dark-secret/details)). ## Foliage and Flowers This selection suits the front of a border, a mixed container or a shaded planting where its dark leaves can contrast with pale foliage and flowers. Sources describe a mature foliage mound around 10 inches tall and 16 inches wide, with flowering stems above it. The cultivar is associated with breeder Gérard and Josiane Darques-Billet and is listed for USDA zone 4a. ## Growing Conditions Grow in sun or light shade in fertile, neutral, well-drained soil. Keep the root zone evenly moist, especially during dry weather, while ensuring that water drains freely. Heuchera crowns can lift gradually as the plant grows, so check their position after winter. ## Maintenance Mulch lightly each year to retain moisture without covering the crown. Remove damaged leaves after winter and divide or replant the clump when it loses vigor; the RHS recommends division every three to four years.
