About Heuchera 'Ginger Ale'

Heuchera ‘Ginger Ale’ is a compact coral bell in Terra Nova’s SODA™ series, grown for ginger-gold leaves with a silvery sheen and soft yellow-and-pink flower sprays. The breeder’s catalog distinguishes a low foliage mound from taller flowering stems and lists it for USDA zones 4–9. [Terra Nova’s culture sheet gives foliage dimensions near 9 inches tall by 10 inches wide, with flowers reaching about 18 inches.](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/other/catalogs/Terra_Nova_2012_Summer_Supplement.pdf) ## Garden placement Use the low mound at a border edge, in a container, or beside darker coral bells. Part shade protects foliage in hot afternoon sun; the breeder also lists sun exposure. Leaves can retain color into mild winters. ## Soil and water Plant in organic-rich, well-drained soil and provide average moisture as roots establish. Avoid waterlogged soil around the crown. A light mulch can help limit winter heaving in colder gardens. ## Maintenance Remove weathered leaves in early spring and trim flower stems after the display fades. Keep healthy foliage in place through winter, and top-dress lightly with compost in spring.
