Create design onlineAbout Hercules Coral Bells
Hercules is a vigorous coral bells selection with green leaves marbled in cream and airy sprays of red flowers. Its spring foliage is most strongly patterned in cool weather, while heat can make the leaves greener until temperatures fall again.
## Garden Use and Size
Plant Hercules in partial shade as a front-of-border accent, a container feature, or a massed groundcover. Mature foliage forms a loose mound about 8–16 inches tall and 15–16 inches wide; flower stems rise above the leaves. The [Chicago Botanic Garden profile](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/heuchera-hercules-hercules-coral-bells) describes the marbled leaves and late-spring to early-summer red and pink flowers. [Plant Delights Nursery](https://www.plantdelights.com/products/heuchera-hercules) reports a vigorous 8-inch foliage clump with taller flower spikes.
## Growing Conditions
Give the plant morning sun or dappled shade and use fertile, well-drained soil. Keep moisture even during establishment and hot weather, but avoid waterlogged ground. The two garden profiles place Hercules in USDA zones 4–9, with modest differences in the upper limit.
## Maintenance
Remove tired leaves as new growth begins in spring and trim flower stems after blooming if a neater clump is wanted. Check that the crown remains at soil level, especially after winter freeze-and-thaw cycles.
